Do A Tour Or A Two Centre Holiday
Sri Lanka is a medium sized island, about the size of Wales, but travelling takes a lot longer than you expect.
If you stay only at a beach resort, it takes many hours of constant driving just to reach the main attractions like the Elephant Orphanage. It is literally quite exhausting. Then you have to travel all the way back to your beach hotel again!
If you stay in the interior upon arrival, or do a tour, it makes a huge difference to the quality of your Sri Lanka experience.
Mix Up Your Hotels For An Affordable Tour
Sri Lanka’s massive tourism boom has resulted in highly inflated hotel rates for foreign visitors.
On an island-wide tour, you often don’t spend that much time at your tour hotel because there is so much to see on a daily basis. If staying only one night at a tour location, you can save a lot of money by opting for smaller more intimate hotels that are still comparatively affordable (see our Mix And Match Option).
Stay A Night On Arrival At Colombo Or Negombo
After a 10 hour flight its best to relax for a night on arrival before embarking on an island tour.
Choose Colombo if you want to experience its colonial hotels or Negombo if you want to relax by the beach on arrival - just15 minutes away from the Airport!
Upgrade To A 4WD To Explore Sri Lanka
Roads in the interior of the island can be of variable quality. The Hill Country also contains high altitude mountain passes over rough terrain.
Our company has a fleet of luxury 4 WD’s that ensure you arrive refreshed at your hotel at the end of a day’s sightseeing.

What Is The Best Time To Visit?
Sri Lanka is one of the few tropical countries in the world that can boast of being a true ‘All Year Round’ holiday destination. Depending on the time of year, either the West / South West / Deep South Coast or the East Coast of the island experiences fine weather.
The South West Coast Or East Coast?
The Winter Season
Negombo | Wadduwa | Bentota | Hikkaduwa | Unawatuna | Mirissa
From November to April, the West, South West and Deep South of the island experiences fine weather.
The Summer Season
Nilaveli | Pasikudah | Arugam Bay
From May to October, the amazing East Coast beaches are among the finest in the entire world with shallow seas where you can just wade out for hundreds of feet into the sea!
What Is The Best Time For Touring?
Touring is a delight during the ‘intermonsoon season’ from July to October because the country is lush with foliage after the monsoon rainfall in May and June.
Sri Lanka is also an ideal choice for a Family Summer Holiday during the July-August summer break as this is the season of the island’s fascinating ‘perahera’ festivals and the huge Gathering Of Elephants at Minneriya National Park.
It has to be said that weather patterns are noticeably changing in South Asia. These days the monsoons rarely start according to historic norms. Its best not to plan your holiday with too much emphasis on the likely weather at the time of your arrival in Sri Lanka.
