The Beach At Weligama

Weligama has one of the most beautiful bays in the whole world, with the idyllic tropical island house of Count De Maunay rising from the waves and picturesque stilt fishermen perched at the far end. The curved bay has a fine, long stretch of sandy beach. There is shallow water on both sides of the bay that enables sea bathing and swimming in relative safety during the Winter Season.

In A Nutshell:

Weligama Bay Resort is the ideal choice for those who are interested in Whale Watching from January-April, as its just a step away from the boats at Mirissa Harbour. The amazing beach at Mirissa is also easily accessible from this hotel. Perhaps surprisingly, Weligama Bay Resort is one of the few luxury hotels in Sri Lanka with cottage style accommodation.

Tips: The Garden Villas are the best option as they are located in the garden and are close to the beach, while the Superior Rooms are on the First Floor in the main block which is set back from the beach. Families with small children can book the Connected Bungalows, which are again a rarity in Sri Lanka.
