• The Sigiriya Rock Fortress
  The remarkable Fortress In The Sky is a magnificent rock citadel dating from 470 A.D.   Highlights include an ancient gallery containing frescoes of the voluptuous Sigiriya   Maidens and The Water Gardens, now known to be one of the oldest in the world.

• Wild Elephants At Minneriya National Park
  One of the Great Sights Of The Natural World happens in July – August of each year   when huge herds of Asian Elephants gather by the Minneriya Lake. Sometimes up to   300 elephants can be seen together – the largest number of wild elephants gathering in one   place on the entire planet!

• The Dambulla Golden Cave Temple
  A series of steps lead to 5 cave temples that contain some of the world's finest examples   of ancient Buddhist art. Many of the frescoes and sculptures are in fact well over 2000   years old.

• The Amazing Beach At Nilaveli
  The East Coast beaches are among the best in the entire world with beautiful soft   white-  coral sand. At places you can wade out into the sea at waist height for 300 feet into   the sea.

Vil Uyana

Vil Uyana is one of the world's first hotels to construct a wetland system to form its very own nature reserve. This innovative thinking has provided a haven for wildlife, and a setting of total peace and tranquility for guests. Vil Uyana hotel has pride of place in this beautiful area, affording all who stay here breathtaking views of the magnificent Sigiriya Rock, one of Sri Lanka's most recognised World Heritage Sites.

Rooms

Due to its highly original design, the hotel is the first in Sri Lanka to offer rooms built over water and paddy fields; each is spacious and tastefully designed offering great comfort and seclusion.

• Water Dwellings: Suites built over a waterway filled with lotuses. Each has a timber deck that juts out over the water providing a picturesque view of the numerous water birds that inhabits the area. A separate dining deck over looking the water provides for dining under the stars.

• Paddy Field Dwellings: These six dwellings are built over paddy fields and have small plunge pools on the deck. The village farmers harvest the paddy fields during the season providing a special insight into paddy cultivation.

• Marsh Dwellings: Six dwellings are situated over the marsh area. Two have plunge pools on the decks.

• Forest Dwellings: Bordering the wilderness are the ten luxurious Forest Dwellings. Each of these two story villas has a 22 ft x 10 ft. private swimming pool. The ground floor consists of an open cemented lounge area with plush floor cushions overlooking the swimming pool and the scenic views beyond, an indoor courtyard, and elegant en suite bathroom with bath tub and rain water shower. A large spectacular bedroom and a private balcony, occupies the second floor.

Fine Dining

• When dining, choose from casual, formal or signature dining including special dining options 'under the stars' or In-villa dining. The Sulang (Winds) Restaurant is for casual dining and Apsara (Celestial Maidens of Sigiriya) Restaurant for fine dining. Graffiti is an Air-conditioned bar.

Facilities

• The resort has a large outdoor swimming pool. Relax and pamper yourself at the Island Spa with a range of treatments to choose from. There is also a Yoga Shala and gym. Mandhiya is a library lounge and Research Centre equipped with a library. As a part of the hotel's responsibility towards local communities, an English teaching program is held in two Buddhist temples located in close proximity to the hotel project.
