• The Galle Fort
Explore the unique living fort of Old Galle, a Dutch and British colonial settlement with massive ramparts and streets lined with buildings of great historic interest. Inside the Galle Fort, is a thriving expatriate community and with a smattering of designer boutiques, antique shops and upmarket fusion restaurants.

• The Deep South Beaches
There are beautiful beaches along the South Coast Road including the reef protected bay at Unawatuna, the secret beach at Mirissa and wild deserted beaches at Tangalle.

• The Sinharaja Rainforest
Nature lovers can travel to the luxuriant tropical Sinharaja Rainforest, where you can go on treks with Forest Dept guides to observe huge trees, creepers and wild orchids..

• Whale Watching At Mirissa
Mirissa is one of the best locations in the world for Whale Watching, which is possible between December and April of each year.

The Dutch House

The Dutch House is a historic mansion which has been restored into an exquisite property - it's an elegant and tranquil retreat. It is the sister property of the highly acclaimed Sun House, which was built in the 1860's and has been extensively and tastefully restored as a luxurious boutique hotel. It overlooks the harbour of Galle, the fortified south-coast town that is fast gaining a reputation as a haven for the discerning traveller.

Suites

The main villa is extremely comfortable, with a luxury sitting room and library extension. The veranda leads you around the extensive lawn to each of the 4 luxury suites.

• There are 4 very spacious and stylish double suites with sumptuous, emperor-size antique four-poster beds, overhead fans (the design of the building and its hilltop location, which catches the cool sea breeze, means that air-conditioning is not necessary). The attached bathrooms are fitted with traditional bathtubs.

• The 'Ballroom' is the largest and most elegant suite. The services of a private maid and butler service are standard throughout Doornberg..

Fine Dining

• The Dutch House takes pride in its restaurant, with guests invited to discuss their preferences each day from an imaginative range of freshly-cooked produce. Alternatively, dinner can be taken at the Sun House, which is the sister property next door which has a great fusion menu. Meals can be taken either in the dining room, on one of the verandahs, or in the garden under the mango tree.

Facilities

• Outside there is an infinity swimming pool with a stunning view and a large garden. The lawns make a fabulous setting for breakfast or afternoon tea whilst the library cum lounge is perfect for those sundowners. There is also a private massage and spa treatment room.

The Sun House has a collection of vintage cabriolet cars. On request a driver can plan a tour around the Galle shops, Dutch Fort or to the beaches of Unawatuna or Bentota.
