The Beach At Bentota

• Bentota and southwards is where the really great beaches of Sri Lanka begin. This resort has the famous Golden Mile Beach, and Saman Villas is located at its southern end on a headland separating it from the South Beach. You can find excellent sea bathing with a short taxi ride away to the northern beaches during the Winter Season.

Local And Day Excursions
• Try some watersports at the nearby Club Intersports, which is part of The Bentota   Beach Hotel. Activities include water skiing, canoeing and windsurfing.
• An amazing drive on the South Coast Road takes you along some of the world’s most   beautiful beaches to the colonial heritage town of Galle about 2 hours away.
• Thrill seekers can get up early and travel about 3 hours to Kithulgala for White Water   Rafting in lush rainforests (GRADE 2 / 3 - suitable for beginners).
• Nature lovers can travel to the luxuriant tropical Sinharaja Rainforest, where you can go   on treks with Forest Dept guides to observe huge trees, creepers and wild orchids.
• The Turtle Hatchery at nearby Kosgoda lies on the most famous turtle nesting beach in   Sri Lanka (Nesting Season: Jan-July)

Stopover Excursions And Mini Tours
• The interesting royal capital of Kandy is about 5 hours away and you can visit the   Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage along the way (stopover night required).
• The South East corner of the island contains Yala National Park, one of the great wildlife   reserves of Asia and one of the best locations in the world to see Leopards. (stopover   night required).
• Travel up to the Hill Country passing tea gardens and waterfalls to reach the legendary   colonial Hill Station of Nuwara Eliya at 6000 ft above sea level (stopover night required)

Saman Villas was the first luxury boutique hotel built in Sri Lanka. Now updated and renovated, its prime attraction is its absolutely amazing, extremely romantic location on a headland that juts out between two of Bentota’s finest beaches. The hotel is positioned on the exclusive South Beach at Bentota, which is lined with up-market villa hotels and a long line of pretty mangroves.

Tips: Go for the Superior Suites as they are on the upper floors, so you get much better sea views from your suite. The more expensive Deluxe Suites on the ground floor have a small garden but little privacy as those on the upper floor can look directly down. Try to dine out at neighbouring boutique hotels such as Club Villa (fantastic Italian cuisine) or sample the homely atmosphere at Hotel Susantha’s.

One of the most luxurious and exclusive beach hotels in Sri Lanka. This magnificently located boutique hotel is situated on a rocky headland between two of the most beautiful bays at Bentota. Its collection of villa suites, dining and living areas, lush gardens and infinity-edge pool are all well positioned to give stunning views of the Indian Ocean. The very experienced staff have set a standard that is beyond any other achieved for a hotel in Sri Lanka.

Rooms

The 27 rooms are set out in two-storey villa houses each with a Superior Suite upstairs and a larger Deluxe Suite at ground level. The suites are split level with a sitting room to the front opening out to a balcony.

• 13 Superior Suites (Upper Floor)
Each suite is designed in traditional Sri Lankan style with separate dressing room and sleeping deck as well as a lounge area and verandah.

Polished Kumak floors and new teak furniture creates a very homely feel. Remote controlled air conditioning can be operated from the bedside. Motorised blinds allow you to watch the setting sun and morning sunrise. A large flat screen satellite TV and DVD/CD system with heaps of CD's in the hotel library.

Features include a mini-bar. IDD telephone and in room safe. Open air bathrooms with large bathtub and separate shower room with hairdryer. Spectacular views of the beach and the Indian Ocean. 24-Hour room service.

• 7 Deluxe Suites (Ground Floor)
More spacious suites on the ground floor with a small private garden.

Fine Dining

• The hotel's Main Restaurant offers impeccable service with a 5-course dinner from an extensive a la carte menu of international cuisine. The smaller Terrace Restaurant by the pool is perfect for breakfasts and light lunches.

Saman Villas has no fixed restaurant hours, you can choose from their wide selection of menus at any time of the day, anywhere in the grounds. Guests also have the luxury of being served personally on their own balcony.

There are three bars - the Pool Bar overlooking the pool and ocean, the open-air Sunset Bar on the top floor with magnificent views over the coast and central hills, and the air-conditioned Library Bar with a snooker table and wide selection of books.

Facilities

The hotel possesses one of the most beautiful infinity swimming pools in the world. There is a fitness centre with gym. Sports include badminton and table tennis.

The Sahana Spa offers a wide variety of treatments including steam baths, aromatherapy and herbal massage. Yoga sessions are held twice a week. Floral aromatic baths can also be arranged in the privacy of your open-air bathroom.

There are two person treatment suites and an open courtyard with hydro tubs, aromatic saunas, and massage tables. The treatment suites offer jacuzzi, mud baths, saunas and a dining pavilion to enjoy a full day of pampering.

A Craft Centre displaying a selection of tasteful gifts and a jewellery shop are situated by the entrance.
