The Beach At Wadduwa

Wadduwa is a small fishing village to the south of Colombo with a long and straight sandy beach that stretches for many miles in both directions. The beach is fine for wading but not recommended for swimming out into the sea.

  • Boat rides are possible along the huge estuary of the nearby Kalu Ganga River.
  • Travel to Colombo to enjoy a round at The Royal Colombo Golf Club, the 2nd oldest in the world!

  • The interesting royal capital of Kandy is about 5 hours away and you can also visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage along the way.
  • The South East corner of the island contains Yala National Park, one of the great wildlife reserves of Asia and one of the best locations in the world to see Leopards.
  • Travel up to the Hill Country passing tea gardens and waterfalls to reach the legendary colonial Hill Station of Nuwara Eliya at 6000 ft above sea level.

Reef Villa is the product of UK architects and interior designers with many years spent working and collecting antiquities from Asia, especially Rajasthan in India. The property is absolutely filled with interesting artefacts. It is all about a labour of love to create a very special and interesting set of living spaces within a luxurious boutique hotel concept. Expect highly personalised service and great cuisine too.

Tips: Go for the Main House Rooms which are gigantic in size and are exquisitely furnished with Rajasthani 4-poster beds and other antique furniture. The two rooms lead down to a large open plan living room which is the main focus of the property.

Reef Villa
 

Situated amidst three acres of lush tropical gardens leading to the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, Reef Villa is a seven-bedroom, luxurious boutique hotel that is perfect for families as well as couples looking for a romantic escape.

Rooms
Reef Villa has seven spacious a/c bedrooms with sitting area and private verandahs. All rooms are elegantly furnished with ornate antique Four-poster canopied beds dressed in fine linen, antique double wardrobes, writing desk and lounge chairs, and Indian swings in the verandah. Overhead antique electric fans and ceiling fixed punkah fans are ideal for the tropics. The ensuite bathrooms with marble inlaid mirrors, granite bathtubs and stylish showers, are a treat.
 

Main House Rooms: With private balconies or terraces. Some rooms are set back within the garden and others overlook the swimming pool with the sea at a distance.

Ocean Rooms: These are larger and better furnished. The Beach Deluxe Rooms have the best sea views and are located closer to the beach.

Lilly Pond Room: A romantic escape opening out to the landscaped courtyard and lotus-filled pond, away from the sea. This is a secluded room which is accessed by stepping stones across the pond.

Fine Dining

The spacious split-level living area and dining room open out to the pond and gardens, and are situated in the Main House. Guests can choose to dine at the thatched-roofed restaurant by the pool, in the gardens, or in the privacy of your own verandah. Reef Villa has two fully-equipped commercial kitchens serving a wide array of Sri Lankan, Indian, and Western dishes. Guests have the choice of an a la carte menu, catch of the day, BBQ or sumptuous breads straight from the Tandoori oven. Meals are served with fine wines.

Facilities

Owned and designed by a British architect, Reef Villa is an elegant blend of Sri Lankan manor house architecture and colonial grandeur. Antique Calcutta four-poster beds and ceiling-fixed punkah fans – previously used by the East India Company -- are all tastefully blended with vibrant colours and contemporary touches creating an exotic ambience. Bask in the sun by the poolside, dine under the stars by the sea, or relax in your private terrace while the sun sets into the ocean at this excellent holiday retreat.

An infinity-edge swimming pool with spa and two children’s pools, beach bar, table tennis pavilion, tennis court, jogging track and gift boutique.

Bawana Spa

The Bawana Spa area features a Cosmetic Room, Shirodhara Room, herbal and flower baths, Relaxation Rooms, and a seating area on the Spa veranda.

Signature treatments include Coconut Salt Body Scrub, Lime Hair Grow Masks, Abyanga - healing body massage completed with Thermo, Warm Stone Massage, Back Pain Black Pepper Masks, Papaya Fruit Facial, Cucumber Body Mask and a special treatment of the month.
