The Beach At Nilaveli

• Nilaveli can lay claim to the best beach in Sri Lanka. It has fine white coral sand, just like the Maldives and is easily one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of Asia. Nilaveli is at its best from April to October, but swimming is possible throughout the year. From some parts of the beach it is easy to wade out in to the sea for hundreds of feet in waist deep water!

In A Nutshell:
The Nilaveli Beach Hotel is the only resort hotel at Nilaveli, arguably one of the loveliest beaches in the world. You need to come here not looking for luxurious accommodation nor a ‘resort’ type atmosphere. However the hotel itself is comfortable enough. People come here mainly to experience the fine powder-white beach and swim in the clear blue sea where you can wade out for hundreds of feet in safety. It’s the nearest that Sri Lanka comes to the Maldives!

Tips: Go for the Deluxe A/C Beach Rooms, as these are of a good ‘tourist’ standard and are well furnished. You are also just a stone’s throw away from the beach. Pigeon Island is best visited early in the morning before large crowds of local tourists arrive.

The Nilaveli Beach Resort is located directly on the stunning Nilaveli Beach to the north of Trincomalee on the East Coast of Sri Lanka, The resort is situated a few steps from its own secluded beach and approached through rows of trees, leading onto endless white coral sand shores that stretch into the distance.

Rooms

All rooms have A/C, overhead fans, TV and mini-fridge. The ensuite bathrooms have hot water showers. The rooms have terraces or verandas that are perfect for lounging or spotting birds and the occasional monkey on the tree tops.

• Standard A/C Rooms: With private balconies or terraces. Some rooms are set back within the garden and others overlook the swimming pool with the sea at a distance.

• Deluxe A/C Rooms: These are larger and better furnished. The Beach Deluxe Rooms have the best sea views and are located closer to the beach.

• Indoor A/C Restaurant - Serves a menu of Sri Lankan and Western dishes.

• Poolside Garden Restaurant - Opens out to the sea and has an a la carte menu and serves a range of light snacks, seafood specialties including prawns, crab, and lobster and alcoholic beverages.
