• Club Dolphin lies in a very quiet beach location near to a fishing village with a few scattered shops and restaurants nearby. A huge amount of sand has recently been put on the beach for landscaping. The sea can however be a bit too rough for comfortable swimming.

Local And Day Excursions
• The popular and busy beach resort of Negombo is 10 km away with lots of restaurants.
• Take a boat ride on the old Dutch Canal to observe Water Monitors and plenty of birdlife.
• The world famous Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is about 1.5 hours away.

Stopover Excursions And Mini Tours
• The interesting royal capital of Kandy is about 3.5 hours away (stopover night required).
• The historic sites of the Cultural Triangle including the magnificent Sigiriya Fortress are About 3 hours away (stopover night required)

In A Nutshell:
Club Dolphin was Sri Lanka’s first All Inclusive resort, and is still the best known as it usually offers great package rates. Its also one of the few beach properties in Sri Lanka with an option of cottage style accommodation. The beaches are much better in the southern resorts of the island, but unlike these, Waikkal has the benefit of quick and easy transfers to Colombo Airport (max 40 mins) compared to the 3 hours or more it takes to go to the southern beaches.

Tips: The 'New Wing' Deluxe Rooms are recommended. Excursions can be easily arraged via shops nearby. They are honest, reliable and much cheaper than booking through any tour operator or from the hotel travel counter.

Club Dolphin is perhaps the best known All Inclusve beach resort hotel in Sri Lanka. The main feature is an enoumous pool, one of the largest in Asia that winds it way around the hotel. The hotel complex sprawls on 20 acres of coconut groves with a mixture of cottages (rare in Sri Lanka) and Deluxe Rooms in the main hotel blocks that overlook the pool.
