The Beach At Tangalle

• Tangalle has some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of Sri Lanka, with an ocean of the deepest blue shimmering against the sun. The beach landscapes are also very pretty with fine white sands and swaying coconut palms on a series of isolated bays and coves. The beaches are near deserted and hassle free, affording a great deal of privacy.

What We Think?

Why not call any of our Tour Consultants on 020 7100 2323 – they have ALL been to Amanwella and can answer any of your questions!

In A Nutshell:
Amanwella has all the hallmarks of a classic Aman beach property. Its all about minimalist luxury and Bali style accommodation in large private villas that dot the hillsides of a coconut estate leading to the sea. They also have a sister property called Amangalla inside the historic fort of Galle. The place to go for a very exclusive and private beach stay.

Tips: As Tangalle is on the Deep South Coast of the island, it is a good idea to travel via Air Taxi from Colombo Airport to Koggala (1.5 Hours away) or to have stopover nights at Colombo if taking the Deep South Road.

Amanwella

5 Hours     Room And Breakfast

Amanwella is a property sited within a mature coconut grove fronting a crescent shaped beach near the town of Tangalle in southern Sri Lanka. It features 30 upmarket villas with each villa having a private plunge pool. Amanresorts was founded by Adrian Zecha who envisioned a collection of intimate retreats in beautiful surrounds with the unassuming, warm hospitality of a gracious private residence.

Rooms

Suites, linked by pathways, are interspersed along the hillside. Most are within comfortable walking distance and a small resort vehicle is available for transport to the more elevated levels. There are sweeping views of the ocean and the beach, flanked by two rocky headlands.

All 30 suites are identical in layout and design and fall into two categories based on their location and views. The Pool Suites and Ocean Pool Suites are contemporary in design yet blending local material and styles like the distinctive terracotta tiles and hand-hewn stone walls. The suites open on both sides letting in cooling sea breezes. All feature Personal Bars with a selection of juices, soft drinks and beers.

Pool Suites
Situated mostly on the hillside, the Pool Suites enjoy views of the coconut grove and ocean. Floor-to-ceiling glass and latticed panels form two sides of the dwelling.

The private pool measures six by four metres and the courtyard features a banquette for lounging and dining. Timber sliding doors and panels reveal the interior spaces.

There is a combined sleeping and living room with a king-size bed and a credenza featuring a personal bar with refreshments. Sliding screens divide this area from the open-plan bathroom featuring a freestanding bathtub and shower.

The terrace includes a dining table with two chairs and a double sun lounge. Terrazzo floors are finished in muted, sandy tones that reflect the beach setting. Three sets of suites share an outdoor terrace connecting door. These are ideal for families or couples travelling together.

Ocean Pool Suites
Ocean Pool Suites are situated on the lower levels of the hill and enjoy uninterrupted views of the coconut grove and beach. They are identical in design and furnishing to the pool suites and are only differentiated by their location. Most are free-standing, although two sets of pool ocean suites share an outdoor terrace connecting door for families or couples travelling together.
